The Bracelet Everyone Is Wearing Right Now

Women have been stacking them up their wrists since the 1920s (when it was known as a "eternity bracelet") as a part of their heavily adorned "flapper" style of evening dress. Also known as a diamond line bracelet, it became a jewellery wardrobe staple throughout the 20th century, especially during the disco era when people were beginning to dress down and wear denim with diamonds. However, it was in the late 1970s that the tennis bracelet, as we now know it, was reborn.

The bracelet gets its name from a famous incident that occurred during the 1987 U.S. Open Tennis Championship. Tennis player Chris Evert was playing in a match when her diamond bracelet broke and fell off her wrist. She stopped the match to search for the bracelet, and the incident made headlines. The term "tennis bracelet" was coined to describe the type of diamond bracelet that Evert was wearing.

Since then, the tennis bracelet has become a popular and timeless piece of jewellery.
